  1. Low conviction rates and these horrendous acts are in danger of becoming the norm in what was supposed to be the safest city in India---imagine how it is in the other cities, towns, villages. This disgusting belief of women being less than is kept alive by continuing to feed the ego of men in every aspect, from education to laws. In a country where women are trying to even the playing field, if these deeply embedded cultural notions are not squashed violence against women, especially those who are educated and successful, will only continue and escalate. What a sad state of affairs when a country refuses to move forward.

  3. Its a shame that such incidents continue to happen without the fear of law.I think in such cases, the punishment should be followed by a social boycott of the family, the boys of the entire family should not be taken for wedding by the community.this will put the whole family to take up the responsibility of bringing up boys with the right attitude and care.then only there would be hope.

  4. I am sure now the parents of the culprits will be busy in getting fake birth certificates to show that the rapists were below 18 (by a few days or few hours) and the legal fraternity will speak in one voice to defend the law that protects such rapists.

  5. Maybe it s time a drastic amandment is made in our law book or role of judge given to the victims or their kin...
Well is it all about punishments? More thought shoud be given to avoid such
    situations...
